Why 'Dead People'

Why? My Dad started me on genealogy in 1997. We spent almost every Saturday untangling our family tree. However, in the fall we always seemed to be watching more football, than finding dead people but it was a precious time. After he passed away it became a passionate hobby, that has taken over my office. My oldest daughter Christina jumped on the band wagon after my father passed away and we have uncovered interesting facts, disproved some family myths and rattled out some pretty interesting skeletons. It has taken a back burner to our lives this last year, but still we are looking and will reopen our investigations.

Genealogy is the third largest hobby. Why? I believe for allot of people, like me, who are from a West Virginia hillbilly and a first generation USA Yugoslavian, who moved away from family and settled in Florida, it's a sense of belonging. Searching for traditions. Looking for those roots of where your from, and possibly where your going.

I hope as I share some of our interesting finds and some of our brick walls, it may spark an interest for you. I included links to all the popular search sites. Just in case the genealogy bug bites you.
